Hatha yoga is a traditional branch of yoga that emphasises the balance between body, mind, emotions and spirit through physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), and meditation.
In hatha yoga the focus is on aligning the body in specific positions to activate and balance our energetic system (open the nadis and chakras) so that the energy; our prana, can flow freely through the body and help us attain higher awareness. The word “hatha” translates to “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), symbolizing the balance between opposing forces within us, such as mind and body, masculinity and femininity, activity and relaxation, extrovert and introvert or effort and surrender.
In a typical hatha yoga class with me, you can expect a somewhat slow-paced sequence of meditation, pranayama and postures designed to naturally open and energise the body and mind, suitable for all levels of practitioners. Each session will guide you through mindful movements, helping you develop greater body awareness and mental clarity. Through consistent practice, hatha yoga helps create a deep connection to the inner self as well as the world around, promoting overall well-being and stress relief.
Whether you are a complete beginner or experienced in yoga, hatha yoga offers a versatile and accessible approach to cultivating a balanced and harmonious life.
